Pam  Feltham
Ask the expert Pam Feltham has a background in finance, business development and franchising. She worked for a number of years for HSBC Asset Finance in business development and account management. Nearly 10 years ago Pam began working in franchising, she joined Carewatch Care Services as Franchise Development Manager and helped developed a franchise network of 120 franchisees. In 2003, she worked on a start-up business with colleague setting up a publication called ‘The Essential Business Guide’. In 2004, Pam moved back into franchising and worked with Expense Reduction Analysts to work as a Business Support Manager, setting up an on-going support structure for their franchise network. She has also been the Franchise Advisor for The Franchise Alliance, overseeing and presenting at UK-wide weekly educational seminars promoting ethical franchising to prospective franchisees. Pam now operates as an independent Franchise Development Consultant, utilising this hands on franchising experience in developing clients franchise systems.

Robert Looker
Ask the expert Robert is Exemplas’ Franchise and Licensing Expert. His role is two-fold – to lead and manage the national CREATE Project which promotes and supports both individuals and businesses to use franchising and/or licensing to enter into or grow their business and to develop and provide similar advice and support to Exemplas clients in nationally. Having spent 6 years as a qualified lawyer in private practice, where he specialised in commercial and civil litigation, licensing and planning work, Robert joined the British Franchise Association (BFA) as their first ever Accreditation Manager (in effect in-house lawyer). He was responsible for the Membership systems and accreditation, revamped and developed their in house Mediation and Arbitration Schemes and initiated with Exemplas the national programme of Franchise Seminars. His time at the BFA gave him first hand experience of the best and worst of UK and International Franchising. As you would expect Robert has a Law Degree, is a qualified lawyer (albeit now non-practising) and an expert on franchising.

Clive Sawyer
Ask the expert CLIVE SAWYER BA (hons), MBA Spent twelve years working for multi national financial institutions before setting up and running his own restaurant. On selling the restaurant he become operations and financial director of a leisure and entertainment organisation, and was heavily involved in the casino deregulation agenda. In 1998 he joined Business Link for London as a specialist Franchise and Business Adviser. He was instrumental in developing Business Link for London’s franchise offering, including establishing regular franchise clinics for prospective franchisors and franchisees, as well as being a driving force in promoting women and ethnic minorities within franchising. In 2003 he left Business Link for London and set up Business Options. Business Options is a specialist independent franchising consultancy helping businesses to franchise domestically and internationally. He also is involved with developing pan European and global franchise initiatives. Clive is an accredited member of the British Franchise Association, the Institute of Business Advisers, and the Institute of Management Consultancy, the Franchiseek Global Alliance network, as well as being a DTI registered consultant and accredited by SFEDI (Small Firms Enterprise Development Initiative).

Brian Duckett
Ask the expert Brian Duckett, Managing Director, Howarth Franchising Brian Duckett has earned his living solely from the franchising sector since 1976, initially as a franchisee, then a franchisor, now an advisor to businesses either considering or operating a franchised network. Since October 1997 he has been managing director of Howarth Franchising during which time his team of senior consultants has assisted countless businesses with their domestic and cross-border franchising activities. Brian writes regularly for the franchising and business media and presents at several seminars and workshops, including those arranged for The British Franchise Association, The Irish Franchise Association, The International Franchise Association, The Institute of Directors and Franchise Exhibitions. Internationally, he writes regular features for franchising magazines in Europe, USA, Australia and India, and has spoken at several franchise conferences on five continents.
