POP2 Internet Ltd. The company which owns and operates The World Travel Guides was formed in May 2000 during which time it has developed a highly sophisticated Internet-based tourism business package, which has been used by the company itself to fund its own development. Most new Internet companies rely on finding a financial backer either from the beginning or early in their development, but the directors of POP2 have ''broken the mould' by running the enterprise as a profitable business right from the beginning and working closely with their customers. The products themselves are a range of country and region based web sites, pre-designed and filled with content relevant to the geographical area concerned, together with e-commerce and banner ad systems built in. These are sophisticated systems that can be used by people with no programming knowledge - anyone who can use a word processor can use one of these. People who buy these sites can sell advertising space to hotels, restaurants, shops etc in the geographical area chosen and keep all the profits for themselves. Their customers can insert and change the content of their ads, on line, without knowing anything about programming. Once they have bought the package, which comes complete with full e-commerce and 'back office' systems built in, they keep everything they make. The moral? You really can build a profitable Internet business without investing large amounts of money up front.
