Caremark (Barnsley) celebrates their first Dementia Champion

North east home care provider, Caremark (Barnsley) were celebrating this week when care worker Susan Winter received her Dementia Champion qualification and certificate. 

 

Susan’s training was delivered by Barnsley Council’s Workforce Development Team and her qualification follows a year of hard work and full training.   Of the original fifteen candidates on the training  programme, only four qualified, one of which was Susan.

Commenting on her achievement, Susan said: “It has been a fantastic experience for me.  I have found it very challenging and incredibly rewarding; I am passionate about this subject and making a difference to people’s lives in our community.”

Caremark’s Care Manager, Cathryn Fewster said: “We are all very proud of Susan, she has worked incredibly hard to gain this qualification – our organization is committed to raising the level of understanding of Dementia and Susan will be instrumental in the design and delivery of the service for the people who need it”.
