Getting Back to The Heart of Education at MagiKats Gainsborough

You would imagine for Jon Curry, new owner of MagiKats Gainsborough, that two dogs, a cat, a horse and a family would keep him busy. Add to this a passion for motor-racing (in the form of the marvellous Caterham 7s) and 38 years playing rugby, and you get a picture of our latest, and quite possibly the most energetic, franchise owner we have seen to date!

Why MagiKats Gainsborough?

Jon epitomises the saying; “If you want something done, get a busy person to do it!” After working in both education consultancy and leadership for 21 years, Jon decided, for quality of life purposes, it was time to continue his commitment to the students of Gainsborough by opening a MagiKats maths and English Tuition Centre. “I was delighted to discover a gap in provision in my local area,” Jon adds.

Education Experiences

As a Deputy Headteacher and Education Consultant, Jon Curry is one of those teachers who’s seen education from the management side. His time as a leading maths teacher, supporting colleagues to deliver positive outcomes for students sees him fired-up to make MagiKats Gainsborough the go-to centre for local students. He says; “MagiKats caters to students from reception to GCSE and beyond and is an all-inclusive service, designed for any ability of any student”.

How Will Life Change Now?

Jon says; “Obviously, with MagiKats being a family run business, with a great network of fellow franchisees to talk with, and not to mention the highest quality teaching resources, a lot of boxes are ticked.” He adds; “I feel like I can get back to the heart of teaching again, helping students with their goals and confidence.”

Why MagiKats Helps Students Succeed

Jon went with a MagiKats franchise (over other known brands) because; “there’s a history of successful franchises across the UK and Internationally, the brand is strong and the materials and method of delivery is unique and strikes a chord with my experiences in improving outcomes for students in National Curriculum programmes for English and maths.”

How MagiKats Gainsborough can help

MagiKats Gainsborough services Lincolnshire and surrounding villages, from Kirton in Lindsey, Redbourne, Scotter, Beckingham, Gringley, Everton, Bawtry and all points in between. Jon says; “We invite each child to experience a workshop live, and then we create an individual learning programme. With encouragement, small group work and mentoring, each child shows progress both academically and in personal confidence. Our company motto is ‘learning without limits’ and we take our students as far as they wish to go. They very much own the journey, and grow so much with us, over time.”

MagiKats Gainsborough is located in the delightful town-centre Gainsborough URC on Church Street, with free parking and within walking distance of local schools. Workshops run on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Jon looks forward to seeing interested parents and students, who can contact the centre directly at MagiKats Gainsborough on 01427 671225, via the website form, or arrange to visit the in person. Workshop hours are 4.30pm to 6.30pm.
