SEO can be Bad for your Google Ranking

Everyone knows how important it is to be highly visible on the internet if you are going to be competitive. That’s why so many businesses now employ the services of an SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) company to boost the ranking of their website on Google, MSN, Yahoo, Bing etc.

But be wary of unrealistic claims:

“We can get your website on Page One in one week”

The philosophy of the search engines is to bring back the most relevant results for any search term. They spend a great deal of time and money preventing anything other than relevant results filtering through to the top.

To do so they all use algorithms to select those results and the algorithms change frequently to prevent clever SEO companies from falsely boosting their client’s websites when it is not justified.

Short term boosting of your position is easy. Most bright teenagers can boost your website ranking quickly but it will usually fall again even quicker. It may even be ”black listed” for using techniques outlawed by the search engines and never seen again!

Like most things “if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is!”

There are no short cuts to achieving an acceptable ranking on the search engines.

So, what do you do?Sustainable high ranking takes time and has to be done with integrity.

So what do we do differently?

At Explorer Travel we have developed our own in-house optimisation system over the last 10 years and we now have over 80% of our websites ranked on Page One of Google for the most relevant search terms.

Last year we opened a brand new IT facility in Bangkok. Our expert SEO staff spend their days optimising our 300 plus travel websites.

SEO is an ongoing project. Once a website is where you want it you cannot stop working on its’ ranking.

Once a new website is launched it takes about two months to get it to Page One. We do not use any tricks to achieve this. It takes a lot of hard work.

Of course, we cannot disclose what we do and how we do it but here are a few things to avoid:

1.   Plagiarised text.

2.   Link farmers

3.   Nonsense text

4.   Website Widgets (Plugins)

5.   Excessive use of key words/phrases

There is a lot more to SEO than the above. It is a science.

SEO is, therefore, constantly evolving. The Search Engines do not like SEO companies but whilst there is Google there will be SEO.

Our knowledge and experience of SEO and Google Adwords means that we can guarantee our franchisees Page One exposure from the first day of business.
