What is Bio-Rite’s background?

Bio-Rite’s head office and decontamination facility is based in Alton, Hampshire.  As a group, Bio-Rite has more than 40 years’ experience in infection control providing tailored services to the NHS, Local Authorities, care and nursing homes.  As well as environmental decontamination, we provide equipment disinfection and maintenance services which enable beds and mobility apparatus to be recycled safely and effectively.  We also supply a mattress decontamination service that meets the needs of NHS hospitals, private clinics and nursing homes and complies with all infection control guidelines.

What is the market opportunity?

The healthcare decontamination sector has seen rapid growth in recent years.  Challenges faced by healthcare providers are only set to continue as they struggle to cope with the increasing threat from infections such as MRSA, C.Difficile or Norovirus.  For the past year, from our ISO9001 accredited facility we have been meticulously preparing to replicate our successful and established business model on a nationwide basis through franchising, offering a select group of people the chance to become Bio-Rite franchisees.  People immediately recognise this is a genuine business opportunity with a ready customer base, with real needs and so far the response from prospective franchisees has been particularly positive.

What is included in the franchise licence?

Franchisees are offered a seven year renewable licence to operate as a Bio-Rite franchisee. This is for an exclusive territory. They are provided with an operations manual (on loan) and are represented on the main Bio-Rite website.  All training is provided and year one membership of the Infection Prevention Society (IPS).

What is the set up package?

As well as the franchise licence and full training, a set up package is needed by Bio-Rite franchisees.  This set up package is purchased from head office and is designed to get franchisees up and running quickly.  It includes equipment and machinery, premises fit-out, signage, office IT equipment, stationery, vehicle deposit and livery, branded uniform and initial marketing launch.

What support is offered to franchisees?

Ongoing support is offered to franchisees as well as specific activity such as our recent attendance at the London IPS event in-order to build and extend relationships with delegates in the industry who are responsible for infection control.  We already know many of the NHS managers that attend the IPS events regularly and so this conference and others like it, enable us to introduce Bio-Rite as a franchise and discuss the fact that we are able to offer our tailored services nationwide.

We have also recently installed a new state-of-the-art laundry facility at our head office which is a major investment to expand our business. This brand new resource will be made available to franchisees to support them as they grow their own client bases.

How much does the Bio-Rite Franchise cost?

The Franchise Licence Fee is £9,000 plus VAT.  In addition, franchisees purchase the Franchise Set-up Package which will vary depending on the size of each premises and the facilities already in place.   This is estimated to be in the region of £11,000 + VAT.  The Bio-Rite franchise has been pre-approved for up to 60% lending by the leading UK franchise banks.

Who would make the ideal franchisee?

Successful Bio-Rite franchisees will be self-motivated and get on well with people.  Ideally they will have management and sales experience.  However, as full training and help with set-up will be provided, the franchise could be suitable for anyone with a broad background in business and who is determined, prepared to work hard and has the enthusiasm to succeed.
